Mansfield Place lies at the heart of the University of Queensland campus, located in Brisbane. The campus is considered and recognised as an important area of parkland and public recreational space, not only by the faculty and students, but also by the wider community of Saint Lucia. Working in conjunction with GTA Consultants, Conlon Birrell Landscape Architects delivered the pedestrianisation of Mansfield Place. The team focused on providing the University with an exciting and vibrant streetscape hub that integrated with the wider campus pedestrian and cycle network and incorporated cutting edge technologies. Through design innovation, sustainable strategy, development and improvement of existing biodiversity and ecological networks and basing the design framework on improving and encouraging better living and health of the campus users a strong design resolution was presented.
